Little Jack lowers the ship down to the ocean and opens the lower hatch. Lancaster drops out riding a small raft whose engine is already on when he hits the water. Splotches of waves are tickling his face as he leaps over waves, entering the thick fog. His eyes adjust, and he soon begins to make out the straight, rocky surface of the cliff's edge.
He reaches the side in a few moments and wedges the small boat among some rocks that stick out of the water like gnarling, sharp teeth. Balancing carefully, Lancaster steps up on the rocks, then looks up into the fog. He doesn’t know how far up the cliff goes, or if his grappling hook will reach, but he has to try. He fires into the blinding mist and waits. It hits something and Lancaster is able to pull it taught. He attaches the gun to his utility belt, and prepares to reel himself upward.
Then something catches his eye; a cave entrance that reaches up out of the water. What grabs his attention most about it is the fact that it has an architectural form to it. Someone carved this entrance, and even outlined it with skillful designs.
What should Lancaster do?
