Lancaster turns in a direction that seems to have the fewest monkey-dogs and runs for his life. His feet stick in the mud with every step, and he struggles to move.
The monkey-dogs are slow to approach him, but as they get closer, they get more daring. One of them swipes at him, biting as he does. Lancaster knows he must get out of there.
He notices how the animals are staying on the patches of moss and the trees, so he gets up on them, too, and hops from one to the other, making distance between himself and the animals.
Once he's gotten a ways, the animals close in faster, and the screeching of the monkey-dogs seems to take on a more aggressive tone. They gather together, and take chase as a team.
For a few moments, the fog is between him and the hunters, but it won't be for long. Lancaster sees a cave nestled in the ground by a group of trees. He climbs into it, hoping the animals didn't see him.
He hears them pass, and lets out a sigh of relief. He can get back out and go back to the town now. But something doesn't seem right about this cave. Looking further in, he realizes there is a blue haze emanating from with in it. It's not a trick of the fog, there really is something glowing further into this cave.
What should Lancaster do?
