Lancaster continues up the side of the cliff, focused on what he's doing. He reaches the top and climbs over the lip. At his feet, the ground is a combination of rocks and moss. Ahead of him, the mist shifts slowly, and his vision alters between near and far.
To see better, Lancaster pulls out his Illuminator, a handheld device with a screen he can watch and a beam at the front which he can project as light, or one of many spectrums. He uses a radar setting to see through the fog and he gets an outline of several buildings ahead of him.
Then he hears a noise to his left, like someone calling out in pain. At first he thinks he might have imagined it, or perhaps it was the wind, but it comes again, a little louder.
What should Lancaster do?
